Toddler Approved Superfood Smoothie Recipe The Whole Family Will Love

This recipe is not just for the mamas to make, but let me speak to the mamas for a moment. There are only a few veggies my toddler will eat without making all the faces. He loves avocado, sweet potato, cucumber, and spinach (only if it’s on a flatbread pizza). Other than that, getting him to eat his vegetables is more of a trick. Like sneaking cauliflower rice into recipes and him thinking it’s rice, or like this smoothie recipe where I sneak in all types of amazing things and he loves it. The great thing about this smoothie is its vibrant purple color, of course kids love eating things that are colorful and fun! I’m thinking if it looked like green mush our son would love it a little less.

Even if you’re not a mama trying to pack your picky toddler full of nutrients, this recipe is unbelievable for all of us. I’m currently in my third trimester of pregnancy and I must admit a big hearty salad isn’t always on my cravings list. However, it’s incredibly important to me to get all types of nutritious foods in my body to keep me and the baby healthy. It’s a hot summer here in Colorado, so this cold smoothie for breakfast is the perfect way to start the day.

Follow this super simple smoothie recipe that’s packed with super-foods and is still sweet and delicious!

Ingredients:

  • 1 banana

  • 1 cup frozen blueberries

  • 1 cup almond milk

  • 1 cup spinach (or more if you’d like)

  • 1 tablespoon Feel Good Organic Superfood Mix

  • 1 teaspoon Feel Good Organic BeetRoot Powder

I also love to add a bit of Vitamin C (sodium ascorbate) powder.

Blend and enjoy.

I’m so grateful to have come across Feel Good Organic Superfoods! They’re a Colorado based company, which of course makes me love them even more, but their products are simply amazing and I’ll be buying them for a very long time. I have been making this smoothie recipe for about a year now, but this last month or so I’ve been adding in the Superfood Mix and the Beetroot Powder for added nutrition and I’m so grateful for that. If we’re going to drink the smoothie almost daily anyways, why not get as much good stuff in it as possible, right?! The very first time I added in the two powders, I was worried that it’d change the flavor of the smoothie too much to where my three year old son wouldn’t drink it anymore. I was completely wrong, he seems to like the flavor even more now! The Superfood Mix actually doesn’t change the flavor too much, I think what he likes is the Beetroot Powder which changes the taste quite a bit. The Beetroot Powder also changes the color a lot too, making it more vibrant than before, which of course makes it more appetizing to a toddler. You might be asking, why beetroot? Well, I became curious about the benefits of beetroot when it was recommended to me to help raise my blood platelet levels. I have lower platelet levels and it’s said to help with that (make sure to do your own research of course). But there are so many other benefits of beetroot, like it is said to support eye health, liver health and also might help maintain healthy cholesterol levels. People have also said that beetroot consumption can also increase stamina and help with endurance! Which when I get back into running after this pregnancy will be an amazing benefit! The Superfood Mix is a no-brainer, I think everyone should have this in their pantry! It’s a blend of 30 superfood ingredients that provides organic, plant-based protein with a full spectrum of antioxidant phytonutrients from nature's best fruits and vegetables. That’s something I’d like our entire family consuming on a daily basis. Even if you have a healthy diet it’s great to make sure you’re packing your body full of the nutrients it needs and thrives on.
