Autumn On The Eastern Shore

*Before I start this post, I want to give a HUGE thank you to Toyota for lending us your Toyota Sienna for this trip! We were traveling with a ton of cargo and people this trip and without the space that the Sienna provides, we would have been in a lot of trouble scrambling to find a car that could hold us all. The Sienna was such a huge help on this trip, and of course the drop down TV was a dream feature for the kids during our 3 hour drives to and from the airport. Toyota, you saved the day, thank you!

I’ve had people ask, “what’s your obsession with Maryland?” Well, the answer is my Grandparents. My Grandparents moved to Ocean City when I was about 8 or so. My Grandma and “Boompa” (our version of Grandpa) are the rock of our family, they’re amazing in every aspect of the word. On October 23rd they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary (goals I know)! This was our chance to do something for them, they’re always the ones doing things for us so it was a nice change being able to do something like this for them. So we planned a surprise trip to Maryland and a surprise party with all of their best friends and family to shower them with love and huge congrats! Well, my sister blew the surprise that we were going out there, oops, but the party was still a shock to them and they loved it and felt so special.

So, although Maryland is such an amazing place and I love the ocean, the beach, chasing baby G in the sand, walking the boardwalk, etc. the main reason we find ourselves in Maryland so often is because of my adorable Grandparents and the rest of our family that lives out there. We really just got lucky that they moved to such a stunning state. We typically visit in the summer, for the warm beach days of course, but it was a nice change to get to experience Maryland and Ocean City in the fall. Fall is one of my favorite seasons, so to get to go on an autumn adventure was a ton of fun. Although, I will say we went a few weeks too early to see the fall foliage in full effect. You can see from the photo below that the leaves were starting to change but they were in the early stages.

Warm sand or cold sand, we love the beach! Some days I think Giulian was born to be a beach baby, the way his eyes light up and he sprints to the waves. He loves it. The distance between the boardwalk and the ocean is long (I tried to google it for an exact distance but no luck), and baby G and those short, chubby little legs of his sprint from the boardwalk to the beach the moment he spots the water. I mean fast too, I really have to keep my eye on him 100% of the time otherwise he’d run straight into the water. I suppose he’s the male, baby version of Moana. Watch this adorable IGTV video of him in the water this summer, you’ll see the joy I’m talking about. He just squeals with excitement, and gets super mad at mommy for not letting him jump right into the ocean all by himself. He doesn’t understand why I hold him back from doing so, sweet little one year old has no clue those waves would suck him right in. Not gonna lie it gives me massive anxiety, but watching him have so much fun is worth it all. Like I said, he loves it.

My personal favorite is when we play in the sand up by the boardwalk, there’s way less worry. Even on cold days we’d both take our shoes off and enjoy our toes in the sand. Sand just feels amazing on toes no matter its temperature. Ocean City has fun things in the sand near the boardwalk for you to let the kiddos play on, playgrounds and big sea creatures emerge from the sand they can climb all over. Even in the fall, there’s plenty of fun to be had!

Thanks so much for following along on our #GrecoFamilyTravels! This is not my first Ocean City, Maryland post and it most definitely won’t be my last. I love it so much there, maybe one day I’ll do a post on our move there (haha a girl can dream right, Nick wouldn’t move there until we’re old and grey). Again, thank you Toyota for lending us the Sienna for our trip!

Must Have Travel Size Items! 3.4 oz Toiletries Perfect For Travel!

My husband and I do a lot of traveling and I am fairly particular about which products I use when I travel. That is why I love when I find my favorite products in a 3.4 oz container or less, no joke it makes me so excited! It's so helpful when you find your favorite dry shampoo, lotion,  toothpaste, face cream, etc. in travel size so that when you are out exploring the world you can maintain the same hygiene routine that you do at home. I'm sure you're already aware of this, but when traveling it's super important to have the correct size liquid containers if you are doing carry-on luggage. When you check a bag it doesn't matter if you pack a jumbo size of shampoo or perfume, but toiletries in a carry-on bag must be 3.4 oz or less. I personally prefer to do a carry-on bag for several reasons, one because I know the airport people aren't stealing my stuff (sorry, but that has happened before), two because I don't have to wait after I land for my bag to arrive, and three I don't want to be that sad traveler who doesn't have her bag the entire trip because it got lost in space. I'd prefer to have my stuff on the vacation, not when I arrive back home ten days later- just saying. So, this post is for the people who are like me and rock a carry on bag most of the time!

Here are my absolute favorite travel size toiletries:

Dry Shampoo. I have linked my three favorite dry shampoo brands: Batiste, Klorane, and Not Your Mother's.

Hempz body lotion. This lotion smells so amazing and is incredibly hydrating.

Organic To Green Travel Size Coconut Oil. This is so amazing for a makeup remover, moisturizer, hydrating product for hair, shaving cream, etc. When traveling it's amazing to have one product that has multiple purposes so you save room in your bag. This product is online only at Ulta. Click the link to shop. Another option is to put coconut oil into an empty travel size container (linked below).

Tiny Vaseline This is my favorite lip moisturizer, I love it!

Travel size empty containers. These are so helpful! If you can't find your favorite products already bottled into travel size, you can simply put them into these empty ones. To be safe, place them in a zip lock so they don't leak into your bag.

Philosophy "Away We Go" Set. A set of travel size Philosophy products.

Frizz Be Gone by Giovanni Eco Chic Hair Care. I love this especially in humid weather where my hair tends to get frizzy.

Burberry Brit Sheer Eau de Toilette Rollerball, .34 oz. Really just find your favorite perfume, you can get almost any popular perfumes in travel size, or go to the perfume stores you see in malls and they usually have travel sprayers they can fill with any perfume or cologne.

Marvis - Whitening Toothpaste, 3 X 25ml - Clear. You better pack some toothpast if you want kissed on your trip!

BELOW IS A PICTURE EXAMPLE OF WHAT IS ALLOWED ON AN AIRPLANE. THEY ARE VERY SPECIFIC AND THE LIQUIDS MUST BE UNDER 3.4OZ / 100 ML.

I hope this helps you pack in the future and hopefully helps avoid tsa from throwing away your beauty products because they are too large. Thanks for reading!

Ice Castle Dillon Colorado

With a new baby and our life being very different these days, we are loving local adventures. So, when we heard there was an Ice Castle being built in Dillon, Colorado (about an hour from us) and we got invited to check it out before it opened to the public, we had to go! Dillon is west from Denver in the mountains, and we lucked out with clear roads on our way up there. My husband and I went, and we took my sister and her three kids. My niece is five years old and was thrilled to see "Elsa's Castle". I can't even imagine how magical that was for her, to be a little girl who loves the movie Frozen and to get to see an ice castle that is super similar to what Elsa built in the movie, too fun!

We left the baby with my mom in Denver, and honestly I wouldn't say this is a baby friendly outing... even with boots on it could be easy to slip and fall which with a baby could be very bad (obviously). On top of that, it is unbelievably cold which probably isn't ideal for a baby. If I'm being honest though, Giulian probably would have liked this adventure more than Mexico, he hated the heat and humidity (he is a Colorado baby 100%).  And it was really cool to see parents bring their little ones (most slightly older than Giulian, like 1 year and older) to the castle on sleds and slide them around.

The castle was a blast! They had ice tunnels you could climb through, slides for the kids, lights under the ice to light up the castle and create a magical ambiance, and the icicles were beautiful. Because we were there early, and Colorado has been slightly warmer this year, the castle wasn't completely finished. They are working on making the castle bigger and better as we speak and they even have bigger slides, more of a maze to go through, and lots more ice to put on. So as much fun as we had, and as cool as it was it is only getting better as they continue to add to it.

They  also served hot cocoa and cookies after wandering the castle to warm you up, which was much needed. If you are lucky enough to have an ice castle being built near you (I think there are currently only six in the US), you should totally go check it out. It's a fun winter outing that is perfect for the whole family. I'm so grateful that Colorado was one of the locations for an ice castle this year. It's a great winter bucket list adventure!
