Travel Day Hairstyles | Quick & Easy Hairstyles For Those Early Morning Flights

Travel days can be exhausting, especially when you’ve got a 6am flight and have to wake up at 3 in the morning. For me, unless I curled or straightened my hair the night before, it’s gonna be up in some way because they’d typically quicker and easier. I do however like to look decently presentable at the airport, no matter how early my flight is. My husband and I have traveled at least 4 times a year for the last 10 years, and over the years I’ve found my favorite travel day hairstyles. I wanted to share them with you!

Double Braided Bun

This is a newer look for me, and I’m loving it! If you don’t know how to french braid, maybe just a low bun is for you. Out of all the looks I’m showing you, this one probably took the longest (10 minutes maybe), but I’m sure the more I practice the quicker I’ll get. You just part out the first section of hair, then put the rest of your hair in a hairband while you brand it. Once you’re done you then part out the next section which is the second braid. Once the braids are finished make sure to tie them off with a small rubber band. Add a bit of dry shampoo to the remaining hair to add some texture and volume. I teased my hair a bit to add extra volume in the back. Gather all of your remaining loose hair and the braids and put them into a pony tail. You can then take the little braid rubber bands out and take the end of the braids out. Wrap your hair around the hair band that is securing the ponytail to make the bun. Secure it with bobby-pins and you’re done!

Braided Low Pony

I love a low pony, they’re simple and take two seconds, but they’re super boring. If you add a little side braid, it gives the look a little something more. If you can’t tell, I love adding braids to hairstyles. If you aren’t a braid lover you can totally just do a low ponytail.

Braided Bun

Okay, this is one of those looks that it’ll be quick and easy IF you know how to braid quick. Otherwise there is nothing easy about this look. I have been braiding my hair for years now so I’ve gotten fairly quick. I love this look because it’s a bit unique with the braid continuing into the bun. HERE is a full break down tutorial.

Half Up Hair Wrap

This is super simple, just put your hair half up, and secure it with a hairband. Next take a strand of hair (from the pony tail) and wrap it around the hairband. Secure that hair with bobby-pins. It’s a simple spin on half up that adds a more polished look.

Headband + Low Braid

This one can be great for transitioning into a more dressed up look. The braid can add a bit of curl to your hair, especially if it’s worn for a long time. If you get off a flight and have a dinner event or a meeting, simply switch your athletic headband to a classy headband and take the braid out for some gorgeous waves and add a bit of texture spray or hairspray.

Half Up

This is so simple but adds just a little something to your hair. I especially love this look if I’m traveling with dirty hair. I typically have grease in the front and top of my hair before anywhere else, so throwing some dry shampoo and a half up look can fix that. You could also do a quick little top knot (although I’m not a fan of them on me).

I hope these hairstyles are helpful and spark some new ideas for ways to style your hair. Those early morning flights can be exhausting, so if you can sleep in a few more minutes due to a quicker hairstyle, do it! Send me a message if you have ANY questions on how to create these looks. I know it can be a bit hard to recreate a look from just pictures and not video. Also, comment below if you have quick hair ideas you’d like to share with us all!
